Spiritualism
Angels are spiritual guardians, watching over our lives on the earthly world from a vantage point in the celestial afterlife. Faith in angels and spirits is closely connected with spiritualism, a religious movement in which the core belief is that life continues on a higher spiritual plane after death, and that our lives on earth can be enlightened through contact with the spirits, made through mediums.
Among the core beliefs of spiritualists are that:
• There is a Christian God.
• It is possible for the living to make contact with the deceased through mediums.
• The afterlife is one step closer to God and is therefore a place of enlightenment. Spirits and angels can provide enlightening guidance to humans on moral and religious matters.
• Behaviour in earthly life does not affect what happens to the soul after death, as the spirit world has several spheres of development and souls are constantly evolving.
• The spirits of the afterlife are a communication link between the earthly world and God.
